Tintypes

Tintypes (also called Ferrotypes) are a type of photography that is antithetical to most people’s understanding of a photograph. It is an almost 200-year-old process that creates photographs that are singular, one-of-a-kind images created directly on a sheet of metal without the use of film or any digital means.

Light-sensitive chemicals are applied directly to a sheet of metal, which is placed inside a large format camera (as film would be), is exposed to light, and then developed into a positive image.
